Naming II

This chapter continues with naming on combat helmets and other German field gear.

 

Named to "Karl Schumacher" 5./M.G. Btl 14. Notice the painted size stamp "56" in the bottom of the helmet. "5 Kompanie Machine Gun of Battalion 14.

Tactical markings inside a M35 SE66 Heer reissue. "2.Sch.E.K.106/1518. This means: 2. Schützen Ersatz Kompanie 106 with soldier number 1518. "Schützen Ersatz Kompanie 106" means Infantry Replacement Kompany 106.

Named to "Kohlbecher".

Named to "Esser. G".

The name "Schmitz".

The name "Brand". Notice the other names which are written in pencil.

Named to Gefr. (Gefreiter) "Wohlers".

Matr. (Matrose) "Afred Bieda". Matrose is the Kriegsmarine rank of Ordinary Seaman.

Unterartz Dr. "Linke" painted in black paint. Unterartz is the Wehrmacht military rank for a qualified surgeon.

The name "Arendt".

Obw. (Oberfeldwebel) "Meyer" painted in red paint.

The name "Hoop". Stickers were commonly used during the war. Rare seen in helmets.

The name "Pehlgrim" on a cloth tag sewn onto the leather.

The name "Eugen Schleehaut" on a cloth tag sewn onto the leather.

Naming on cloth line on a gas mask used by a German navy soldier. Dienststelle (serving location) and Feldpostnummer 18558 Stab (staff) und Einheit Marine-Flak Abteilung 814 Denmark/Norway. The other cloth tag says; "Hausmann Max" N 5153/41 E. Navy soldier Max Hausmann was assigned to the "Marinestation der Nordsee" (North Sea Navy Station) in 1941 with individual number 5153 and got education under code "E" (electro).

Naming on cloth line on a gas mask used by a German navy soldier. "H. Kühne" with field post number; Fpnr 06242 D. The field post number belongs to "Kühne" who served in "Stab (staff) u. 6 Batterie Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 503. This coastal fort was placed near the city of Stavanger (Norway) on the island Kvitsøy.

Double naming on the inside of the cover of a gas mask canister. Obergefreiter Jacob Gamböck with field post number 04988 served in HKB 48/977 (Heeres Küsten Batterie 48, Regiment 977) placed in Røtingi near Korsfjord in the western coast of Norway.

Naming on the inside of the cover of a gas mask canister. "Nikolas Schneider" Bauinspektor with 2 field post numbers. A Bauinspektor is an engineer who inspected German fortifications and other constructions. According to the field post number, this officer served in Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur (HQ unit of an Air Force Base) in Bodø, Tromsø and Hattfjelldal.
